A FIRST World War themed market is to take place at Proteus Creation Space at the weekend.

The Council Road’s Creation Space will be packed with vintage and handmade craft stalls, presented by local vintage retailer VJ Vintage.

There will be lots on offer including clothing, accessories, art and craft items, confectionary, homewares and much more on Sunday, September 14 from 11am until 4pm.

You can even get a vintage makeover with a pop-up hair and beauty salon, or pay a visit to a traditional barber.

There’ll be live jazz and other entertainment while you browse, including children’s poetry from Merlynda, the Epic Poet and Verse-Fabulist, who will also be selling framed editions of her work.

There’ll also be hands on craft activities for children (and adults), including the chance to make your own remembrance poppy.

A couple of vintage vehicles will be on display outside the building, and the Proteus Creation Space resident artists will open up their studios for live art and craft demonstrations.

Aristology Café and Makery will be open for the duration, providing refreshments to help you shop.

Victoria Arrowsmith said: “I’m really excited to be hosting Vintage Markets at the Creation Space this season. There are loads of fun and interesting stalls to browse and the live entertainment will give the afternoon a really special feel.”

Entry costs £1 on the door and is free for children. Log on to proteustheatre.com to find out more.

VJ Vintage will return to the Creation Space later in autumn with another vintage market.
