THERE’S still time to enter Marwell’s prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.

This year, the competition has four categories: Native Wildlife – flora and fauna native or resident in the British Isles; Cute and Funny – mother nature at her cutest or most amusing; Marwell Wildlife residents; and Marwell Wildlife endangered – species at Marwell specifically classified by IUCN as endangered or critically endangered. Entry to the competition costs £5 for adults and is free for juniors. You can enter twice, using up to 10 images.

Head judge for 2014 is Laura Barwick, a world-renowned wildlife and natural history photographer who has worked on programmes such as BBC’s Planet Earth and BBC’s Nature’s Great Events.

She has twice been on the judging panel for the International Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and has a keen eye for fresh, innovative imagery as well as images that inspire.

Other judges include award-winning wildlife photographer Jason Brown, and picture editor of the Daily Echo, Paul Collins.

This year’s top prize is a nine day trip through the wildlife conservation parks and reserves of Spain, worth £1,355. Other prizes include, a special day at the zoo incorporating a Junior Photographic Experience, annual memberships to Marwell Zoo, camera equipment and lots more.

The deadline for entries is August 31, 2014. Competition terms and conditions can be found on the website marwell.org.uk/photocomp.
