A NEW map highlighting Basingstoke’s broad range of attractions is to be unveiled next month.

Called ‘Places To Go, Things To Do’, the map’s bright design features 14 local attractions: The Anvil, Basing House, Basingstoke Canal, Basingstoke Discovery Centre, Central Studio, Festival Place, The Haymarket, Jane Austen’s House, Milestones, Proteus Creation Space, Sandham Memorial Chapel, The Vyne, Whitchurch Silk Mill and the Willis Museum.

The map, which has been funded by Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council, will be located at all 14 featured attractions and will also provide news of events coming up in the area.

Local artists Kev Munday and Katie Smith designed the map after Basingstoke Discovery Centre Manager Sarah Gray realised the potential of the project.

She said: “Everyone is thrilled by both the fun, artistic design and the clear message this map gives out: Basingstoke is steeped in interesting attractions and there is something for everyone right on our doorstep.

“We hope this new map will help visitors plan future days out and remind them how much Basingstoke has to offer.”

The project will also produce a limited run of postcards along with an online version of the map.

The official unveiling of the map will take place at Basingstoke Discovery Centre, Festival Place, on Wednesday, June 18 at 2pm.
