OVER 35 bands have been announced for the line-up of Silkfest 2014.

This local music festival was founded by local man Jon Lovegrove in 2005 with a single day event headlined by Captain Everything and FireApple Red.

This year's event, the seventh since Silkfest's conception, takes place from April 17-20 and is presented by both Jon's promotions company Rockbitch and Shani Saunders' That Vibe.

Jon said: “It's become a tradition - every Easter we get loads of our friends together and put on a festival.

“Silkfest this year is possibly one of my favourite line-ups ever - a mix of established bands and brand new artists to Basingstoke, plus an international headliner on the Thursday night.”

Each year, Silkfest supports a local charity. This year's proceeds will go to St Michael's Hospice.Tickets cost just £5 per day or £12 for the whole weekend. Alternatively, pay just £8 for a weekend ticket (Saturday and Sunday).

Jon added: “Last year, we put nearly 40 bands on over the four days. This year, we've got plans for even more acts, over both floors at Sanctuary.

“With the addition of the acoustic stage (still looking for submissions) we will be having over fifty live performances over the weekend - all for the total cost of £12.”
