FATBOYZ Dance Company held an international dance competition in Aldworth School recently.

Over 200 dancers, from all over the UK and performing in various disciplines, attended to compete. The competition was hosted by Basingstoke’s own MCX (Andre) who also rapped on the night.

Among the winners on the day were duo champions Shivani Dawett and Ed Thrower, solo winner Twinkle from Croydon, freestyle winner Ed and the team victors Artemis. Jade Dancepower won the open category.

All winners and placed finalists received certificates and medals.

In addition, there were also performances from UK street dance champions FatBoyZ Dance, who showcased their styles including street and Bollywood.

Head judge, street dance champion, entrepreneur and owner of FatBoyZ Dance Company, 18 year-old Liam Dawett commented: “My team worked very hard to put on a big international dance competition.

“We hope this is the first of many things to come. It was nice to see many different people from diverse backgrounds all having one thing in common - dance.

“I believe we broke down some boundaries - we have definitely united people.”
