AN exhibition of the work of Discworld illustrator Paul Kidby will go on display in the Willis Museum at the weekend.

See Discworld and Beyond from Saturday, March 29 until Saturday, June 28.

Paul Kidby is best known for his illustrations for Terry Pratchett’s Discworld books. He started his artistic career in freelance illustration before committing himself to working full time on Discworld in 1995.

Today Paul, who lives and works in the north of the New Forest, balances his output between Pratchett and his own projects.

This exhibition showcases the wonderful book covers and illustrations for Pratchett’s novels including favourite characters like Rincewind, the Wee Free Men and, of course, Death.

All his work is marked by a staggering quality of draughtsmanship and effective use of colour, bright for the book covers and muted for his faerie paintings.
