THE new exhibition by the art group Drawn Together is to open at Proteus Creation Space next week.

This show will include the artists’ own work in addition to a selection of unique collaboration pieces created by the six participating artists in a new and unusual ‘hand-over’ project.

Therefore A Word in Your Eye has both distinctive individual art works and six pieces which were started by an artist and then passed in turn between the other members of the group.

Nicki Lister explained: “This project has been a learning curve, inspiring, frustrating, challenging, and, in planning hand overs and transported work, logistically quite difficult at times. In most cases it has been impossible to predict how a piece will develop and there have been a lot of surprises along the way.

“Some of us have tried new materials and mediums that we have not used before, which have in turn brought new challenges, opening up new avenues and ideas that we may not have necessarily reached, working on our own in our preferred medium.”

In addition to the hand-over pieces, there will also be photography, ceramics, fine art, painting, textile art and 3D work on display.

The members of Drawn Together first formed in 2010. Their work has been enthusiastically received in past exhibitions in Hampshire, Surrey and West Berkshire.

In 2012 the group exhibited their show The Ostrich Legacy in Basingstoke town centre.

See A Word in Your Eye from March 28 until April 11 in Proteus Creation Space, Council Road.

The exhibition will be open between 10am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday. Entry is free.
