ENGLISH National Opera’s sensational production of Peter Grimes will be streamed live from the London Coliseum to Basingstoke’s ODEON on Sunday, February 23 at 3pm.
Experience this searing psychological drama by Benjamin Britten on the big screen.
Directed by David Alden, Peter Grimes is one of Benjamin Britten's greatest operas and a true British masterpiece.
Based on the poem The Borough by George Crabbe, it sees the lead of the same name accused of mistreating and murdering his apprentice.
A fisherman, he is mistrusted by the villagers and as he takes on a new apprentice events seem to repeat themselves and trouble escalates to an enthralling and tragic climax.
Set in a coastal village of Suffolk, the music depicts the restless sea and is some of the most evocative music ever written.
