THE first annual open submission exhibition in the new Sherfield Gallery at Sherfield School will be unveiled next week.

This space opened in September 2013 and aims to support new and emerging visual artists alongside more established artists. The school’s artist in residence Lee-Anne Hampson has organized and curated this exhibition, which features 23 artists, one of whom will win a further solo exhibition.

Contributions were invited from contemporary artists working in painting, sculpture, photography, print, textiles and drawing.

Sherfield Gallery had a phenomenal response, from those who had decided to change career due to their passion for art, to those who had just finished exhibiting in Cork Street and the Royal Academy in London.

All of the work on display will be for sale, but the gallery does not take any commission from sales.

All are welcome to the opening night on January 17 from 6-8pm. There will be drinks, nibbles and a performance by band Sahara.

On the night, the judging panel will present the winner with the chance to have a solo exhibition of their work at Sherfield Gallery during 2014.

The annual open submission exhibition will run from January 17 – February 26.
