TWO north Hampshire MPs have launched a competition to find the area's favourite curry house.

Basingstoke MP Maria Miller and North East Hampshire MP Ranil Jayawardena have launched the North East Hampshire and Basingstoke Curry House Awards.

And the two MPs are now asking residents to vote for their favourite Indian or South Asian restaurant based in North East Hampshire and Basingstoke.

The winning restaurant in each constituency will then be put forward to take part in the National Tiffin Cup – a competition to find Britain’s best South Asian restaurant.

One restaurant from every region will be shortlisted and invited to participate in the Grand Final cook-off event held in the House of Commons. The contest will be judged by MPs and guest celebrities, and the proceeds raised at the event will go to international children’s charity, World Vision.

Nominations for the competition, which should include the name and address of the restaurant, should be sent to curryhouseawards@gmail.com.

The deadline for nominations is July 14.
