PEOPLE will be able to get a taste of Italy when a special market comes to the Top of The Town.

An Italian Market will be held between 9am and 4pm on Wote Street and Market Place on Thursday, June 11 and Friday, June 12, following the success of the French market last month.

A range of produce will be available on the day including cheeses, cakes, business, olive oils, cooked meats and breads.

The specialist market is part of a plan by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to improve the market, encourage more people to visit the area and help it become a more attractive shopping and leisure destination to complement Festival Place and The Malls.

Councillor Terri Reid, Cabinet member for housing and regeneration and who leads the Basingstoke Town Centre Programme, said: “I’m really looking forward to the Italian market coming to town.

"These types of events are not only popular but really help to transform the area and support the businesses that trade there by bringing in more people.”
