FLAHAVAN’S is a family company that’s been milling for over seven generations.
It is Ireland’s leading producer of Irish oat-based products.
Here are two recipes using the company's oats just in time for St Patrick’s Day, March 17.
Flahavan’s Super Green Porridge (Serves 2)
Ingredients: 80g Flahavan’s Organic Irish Porridge Oats
350ml milk
180ml fresh coconut drink
70g cashews, soaked overnight
1 ½ tbsp honey
Juice ½ orange
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp chlorella or spirulina
Handful of pecan nuts roughly chopped
Honey for drizzling
Method:
Mix the Flahavan’s Organic Irish Porridge Oats and milk in a saucepan and bring to the boil, stirring frequently.
Reduce the heat and leave to simmer for 5 minutes.
Mix the coconut drink, cashews, honey, orange, vanilla and chlorella in a blender and blend until smooth.
Serve your porridge in a bowl and mix in your chlorella blend.
Sprinkle over the pecan nuts and drizzle with honey.
Flahavan’s Overnight Irish Breakfast Shake (Serves 3-4)
Ingredients:
50g Flahavan’s Organic Irish Porridge Oats
250ml almond milk
2 tsp cocoa powder
½ tsp ground cinnamon
Agave syrup/honey, to taste
1 small banana, sliced and frozen overnight
Handful of popcorn (flavour of choice)
Method
Mix the Flahavan’s Organic Irish Porridge Oats, almond milk, cocoa powder, cinnamon and agave syrup/honey in a re-sealable bowl and leave in the fridge overnight.
In the morning, add the banana to the oat mixture, then place in a blender and blend until completely smooth.
If the shake is too thick, add more milk for a thinner consistency; if it's not sweet enough, add more of your preferred sweetener.
Top with popcorn to give your oaty Irish stout some extra-special ‘froth’.
