FANCY a bowlful of Cream of Hampshire?

Join in the souper soup challenge by sharing your recipe idea with the New Covent Garden soup team.

They are challenging keen cooks and soup fans across the country to come up with recipes which reflect their county or city.

The very best recipe will be selected to go on sale as soup of the month and £5,000 will be donated to a charity of the winner’s choice.

The local recipe that best embodies the Cream of Hampshire will also take its place amongst dozens of other ‘Cream of…’ recipes such as Cream of Yorkshire and Cream of Dorset in a New Covent Garden recipe book to be published next year.

“Every part of the country has a food heritage,” said Jeremy Hudson, CEO of Hain Daniels Group which owns New Covent Garden Soup Co.

“We want to celebrate that richness and collect as many traditional and new regional soup recipes as we can. And we’re looking for surprises.

"Hampshire has a regional delicacy, the wild mushroom, which could be used as inspiration, but what are the county's other culinary gems?”

The competition closes on December 24.
