THE team at Basingstoke Discovery Centre in Festival Place welcome all families and young people to the building for a range of exciting events this October half-term.

On Saturday, October 27, at 11am, professional artists from Carving Magic invite children to try their hand at carving the spookiest pumpkins in town, whilst free face-painting and monster story-telling will be taking over the children’s library in the afternoon from 2pm. Pumpkin carving costs £3 per child.

The Halloween theme continues on Tuesday with a free scuttling rat and cat mask craft workshop at 10am before the big day itself on Wednesday, when Muffin Break will be welcoming children in to decorate Halloween cookies from 12pm – 3pm.

Later in the day, an especially spooky tour of Basingstoke starts at the Discovery Centre at 6.30pm during which children are invited to dress up and hear the haunted tales of the town. The tour is suitable for children aged six and over, and costs £2 per person.

On Thursday, November 1, at 3pm, Basingstoke’s Pets at Home will be introducing some of their pets to visitors and answering questions about them before Friday’s free craft workshop from 1.30pm – 3pm during which you can create your own Pom Pom Scarecrow character.

Pumpkin carving and spooky tours must be booked in advance.
