Find out about British Sign Language at the next meeting of Basingstoke Writers' Circle

MERVYN Rees will give an interpretation in sign language of the work of Dylan Thomas and William Shakespeare at the next meeting of Basingstoke Writers’ Circle.

As the speaker for the meeting, on Tuesday, July 24 in London Street’s United Reformed Church, he’ll discuss the wider subject of British Sign Language.

Mervyn, a retired teacher of BSL for Social Services, said: “Language after all is the jumbling together of sounds of ordinary individual words, but what magic can be well wrought in re-arranging simple words till they sparkle!”

He hopes to communicate the beauty of sign language on what is sure to be an interesting and stimulating evening. Come along and engage with what will be an entirely new experience for some.

The talk lasts from 8pm until 10pm. Entrance costs £2.50 on the door and refreshments are free of charge.
