KALA The Arts has received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and partnered with the Discovery Centre and Marnel Community School to launch a new community project.
They would like to invite locals to be part of this new and exciting opportunity by joining their participatory family workshops.
Parampara, meaning traditions, will offer workshops in Marnel Community School that will include Indian dance (Odissi) and storytelling, live music, film and an exhibition. Best of all, sessions are free and this is a fantastic opportunity to learn together and develop skills through participation.
This project will also enable members of the community to be part of a legacy as Kala will be creating a professional film to be screened across the county to celebrate the quality of the Odissi heritage here in the UK.
Workshops take place tomorrow, Tuesday, June 26 from 4.30pm- 6pm and Tuesday, July 3 from 4.30pm- 6pm.
A final session for sharing the work will take place on Friday, July 6 from 5pm to 6pm at Basingstoke Discovery Centre, Festival Place, which the mayor, Cllr Martin Biermann.
