PUPILS of J G Dance won a record number of places in the recent finals of the British Arts Awards in London.

The students, many of whom attend classes in Aldworth College and The Vyne Community School, fought off fierce competition from 30,000 entrants to achieve 15 first places, nine second places, and seven third places.

The youngsters, aged between six and eighteen, performed in a range of styles, including ballet, tap, acrobatics, modern jazz, national dance, singing and drama.

Ann Morelle, principal, said: “The standard was exceptionally high, but we had more first places than ever this year.

“I am so very proud of all of those who took part.”
