Film appreciation course begins in March at Basingstoke Discovery Centre
9:38am Monday 18th February 2013 in Leisure
FILM enthusiast Steve Richards takes a fun and in depth look at the techniques filmmakers use in a new course beginning early next month.
Steve will be running a six session course looking at how directors make great movies.
Steve has a Masters degree in film studies from the University of Winchester and has been running courses on film studies around Hampshire for the last year.
In this six week course he’ll be sharing his knowledge of the key techniques which filmmakers use by watching and discussing clips from some classic movies (and some lesser known gems) by great directors like Steven Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock and Tim Burton.
The course includes sessions on movie visuals, editing, sound and music, acting and film genres. The focus is on fun and accessibility and everybody is welcome whether you’re a film buff or someone with just a casual interest.
The course begins on Friday March 1 from 2pm – 4pm and continues weekly until April 12. Tickets cost £30 for the entire course and are available from Basingstoke Discovery Centre in Festival Place, or by phone on 01256 478670.
