BBC newsreader George Alagiah will open up to an audience in Portsmouth this week

NEWSREADER George Alagiah OBE will discuss his career so far in Home From Home at the New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth on Friday, December 14 at 7.30pm.

Alagiah was schooled in the city having attended St John’s College boarding school. He will be speaking frankly about his experiences as a Tamil immigrant boy from civil war torn Sri Lanka.

This personal and poignant journey will open a window on a child’s struggle with his own cultural identity, whilst providing an insight into George’s career at the BBC as a foreign correspondent and newsreader.
