Snap up an original artwork from local talent at Open Studios event in Fairfields' Flat

STUDIO Upstairs, a thriving artists’ community based above Basingstoke's Fairfields Arts Centre, is opening its doors to the public on Sunday, December 9.
The four artists in residence, Kev Munday, Bill Thorpe, Katie Smith and Kieran McKay, have been working from the previously desolate caretaker’s flat above the centre for just over a year. Chairperson of the Fairfields board, Hannah Williams, had the idea to lease the space at a discounted studio space rate in order to provide opportunity for local talent, and this opportunity has certainly not been wasted by them all.
This year alone, they have showcased their wares all over the country this year, featuring in exhibitions at The Hayward Gallery in London, The Maltings in Farnham and Bristol’s Upfest Gallery, and 2013 looks hugely promising.
Kev Munday’s unique paintings, murals and art have featured in dozens of publications including The Independent, Front, The Evening Standard, Vice and Knowledge Magazine. Twenty-six year old Kev's painting skills have earned him commissions from clients including Walt Disney, Fabric Nightclub, Monster Energy Drink and Guitar Hero. A savvy businessman, too, he self publishes a new collection of limited edition prints every year and ships them worldwide, directly from his studio.
Don’t miss this superb opportunity to come and browse their creative workspaces from 2pm until 6pm in The Flat and check out their varying original artworks and editions, many of which will be on sale at ‘direct from the artist’ prices.
All of the artists will be in attendance and refreshments of mince pies and mulled wine will be served. More information about Kev Munday’s work is online at kevmunday.com.
