THIS year’s New Contemporaries exhibition is, as ever, a great opportunity to see work by some of the latest, freshest, and newest young artists and designers who have just graduated, while they are still largely unknown at the start of their careers.

Fairfields Arts Centre has a track record of bringing the best British artists to Basingstoke. The winner of this year’s prestigious Threadneedle Prize for best British Painting & Sculpture was Robert Truscott, who featured in a previous New Contemporaries exhibition. The winner of the prize in 2009, Sheila Wallis, was also an artist Fairfields had shown as an unknown student. 

Curated by Fairfields’ centre director Andy Buchanan and now in its tenth year at Fairfields, it has become well established and regarded as one of the best exhibitions of work by new young artists. designers and photographers in the region. The featured work will include painting, photography, installation, design, paper sculpture and more.
