THE expert management of human resources (HR) at companies and organisations in Basingstoke is even more assured following the success of young professionals attending Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) courses at BCOT.
At the annual awards ceremony, Bob Lentl, chair of the CIPD’s Basingstoke group, praised the 47 students who completed their courses and awarded prizes to Nicky Huckett (CTP Most Improved Student), Ben Naylor (CTP Outstanding Student), Julie Thomas (CPP Outstanding Student), and Carrie-Ann Bright (CPP Most Improved Student).
The college offers two CIPD courses.
On the well-established and popular certificate in personnel practice, 12 students achieved a merit award.
However, on the more specialised certificate in training practice, a course offered for only the first time in 2007/08, seven of the 10 students achieved a merit. Course manager Marjorie Newton said: “This is an outstanding result of which the students, the employers and the tutors can all feel justly proud.
“The course is challenging and students have to attend college one afternoon or one evening each week and complete assignments, as well as perform well in their employment.” The certificate in personnel practice is a one-year programme for people already employed in this area of work or who wish to move into it.
The certificate in training practice is also for one year, but specialises in preparing HR staff to deliver training to employees.
To develop your career still further, BCOT now offers a masters level professional development scheme, which is a Level 7 qualification.
Achieving this is evidence of high-level managerial and strategic competence in human resources.
