A PAINTING of a chirpy Christmas robin proved a winner for schoolboy William Flynn.
William, a pupil at Mayhill Junior School in Odiham, had a surprise 9th birthday present when Chris Nicklin, of estate agent Strutt & Parker, presented him with a £25 book token for his Christmas art.
William's design for the agent's annual Christmas card competition came second after more than 4,000 budding artists across the country entered a seasonal painting.
The winner came from Lincolnshire and the drawing by another nine-year-old is now being sent out as the agent's official greetings card.
The competition raised a total of £4,145 for the youth work charity UK Youth with Strutt & Parker donating £1 for every entry.
Clemmie Carswell, chairman of Art for Youth in aid of UK Youth and a Strutt & Parker partner, said: "We're now in our sixth year of the Christmas card competition and have been overwhelmed by both the high quality and huge quantity of entries."
