NEARLY £4million worth of property was sold in just two hours when buyers and sellers turned out in force for an end-of-September auction.

Simon Clayton, director and auctioneer for estate agent Romans, brought the hammer down on 80 per cent of the lots offered at The Blue Mountain Conference Centre in Binfield.

The majority of the lots covered property in Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey, and successful bidders included private buyers and buy-to-let investors.

Mr Clayton said: “The market has gone through a massive adjustment. We have worked extra hard with clients to ensure reserve prices were for today’s market. Buyers recognised this and came back in big numbers.”

He added: “A number of the sellers were in attendance at the auction and commented to me afterwards at how, given recent events, they had not been overly optimistic about their chances, but were delighted to see such a busy and positive auction room.”

The auction proved that, with sensible pricing, there are buyers in the market willing to step in with either cash or mortgages arranged.

The next Romans auction will be at the same Binfield venue on December 3, and property lots will be taken until the end of this month.
