A LOCAL photography competition has been launched by property services company Romans.

The estate and letting agent which has a branch in Winton Square, in Basingstoke's Top of The Town, is asking photographers to showcase the town and surrounding areas, and demonstrate why it is a great place to live.

Entrants can win up to £500 in House of Fraser vouchers and nominate a local charity of their choice to win a donation of up to £3,000.

James Boyden, sales manager at Romans Basingstoke, said the firm has worked in the local property market since 1987 so its agents know the area extremely well, but they always want to learn more about what makes Basingstoke so special to the people that live here.

He said: “Whether it's a local landmark, beautiful landscape or eye-catching architecture, such as The Vyne or Basing House, everyone loves different things about Basingstoke.”

“The Local Picture gives you the chance to show us what really matters to you and what makes you love your town, as well as supporting local charities.”

The competition is open to anyone professional and amateur photographers, aged 18 or over.

Only one photo per entry.

Three winners will be chosen by judges, who include a professional photographer, and one will be chosen by the public.

First place wins a £500 voucher plus a £1,000 donation to a charity.

Second and third place winners will each receive a £250 voucher with £500 going to charity.

The winner voted by the public will receive £500 plus a £3,000 donation to a local charity.
