A BASINGSTOKE school’s innovative use of information computer technology (ICT) has earned an award.
Costello Technology College has won an Education Business Award in the Outstanding ICT Innovation category, which recognised the school’s creation of an online curriculum, allowing pupils to access learning resources at home.
Newsreader Moira Stewart presented the award at a ceremony in London.
The school, in Crossborough Hill, created the online curriculum so pupils can knuckle down to homework and exam revision outside the school gates as well as in the library.
A series of “digital learning resources” was created, matching lessons delivered in the classrooms.
Teachers are also able to record lessons and create a video version.
Dominic Tester, assistant headteacher at Costello, said: “We have had a great deal of positive feedback from students, parents and teachers praising the use of our online curriculum.
“By regularly capturing lessons in video form and placing them online, we’ve created a bank of resources that pupils can access at any time, either from home or at school.
“We are continuing to expand our digital resource offerings to include mobile technology, as we see the future of accessing learning content heading towards mobile devices. We are delighted to have been recognised for our work in providing students with accessible learning in a way that is both natural and engaging.”
