KITES were flying high in the sky at South View Junior School after children made them with the help of teachers and parents.
A kite-making kit was bought for every single pupil at the school in Shooters Way, South View, Basingstoke, and the pupils used string, tape and tassels to build them.
Each class spent an hour out on the school field flying their brightly coloured kites, and seeing how high they could go. Alexis Parish, 10, said: “I really enjoyed making the kite, and the more string you let go of, the higher it goes up.”
Parents were invited to help make the kites with the pupils, or watch their children flying them outside.
Sue McLaughlan, a teacher who organised the activity for the end of term, said: “It’s been fantastic. My class loved it and had a lot of fun.
“They all sang Let’s Go Fly a Kite as we were walking out to the field and they all got into the spirit of it.”
