YOUNGSTERS proved their school has got talent when they performed in their own version of the ITV1 show Britain’s Got Talent.

More than 200 pupils from Hatch Warren Junior School in Basingstoke auditioned for the contest, but just 11 were chosen to reach the final.

The show reached its climax before the Christmas holiday when members of staff took on the role of the panel of judges, taking on the roles of Piers Morgan, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell.

The school even had its own version of presenters Ant and Dec – teachers James Hartley and James Wright.

With singing, dancing, juggling, comedians, and even an impression of the Village People, the competition entertained the whole school – but there could only be one winner from each of the boys and the girls.

Shauna Walker, aged 10, from Year 5, won with her performance of Think of Me from Phantom of the Opera, while seven-year-old Brett King, from year three, impressed the judges with his impersonation of Michael Jackson.

Tanya Rappolt, a lunchtime supervisor who organised the event, said: “Everyone really enjoyed it. Shauna’s voice was amazing – it was beautiful – and Brett had Michael Jackson down to a tee. He had the socks, the gloves, the hat and all the right moves. The school was buzzing with excitement all week.”
