Bison miss out on play-offs
THE Basingstoke Bison's hopes of making the Elite League's end-of-season play-offs ended on Saturday night, as the Herd lost to champions Coventry Blaze 4-1, while Edinburgh Capitals produced a shock 2-1 win at runners-up Sheffield Steelers.
That gave the Scottish outfit the eighth and final play-off spot and the right to play Coventry this weekend in a quarter-final showdown.
On Saturday night, Greg Chambers scored the Bison's only goal to cancel out a Sylvain Cloutier strike in the first period.
Basingstoke's Danny Stewart came closest to breaking the deadlock in the second session when he hit the post.
Then in the final 20 minutes, goals from Cloutier, Curtis Huppe and Adam Calder made sure of the win for Coventry.
