Basingstoke Morning Townswomen’s Guild

WE HAD a very interesting talk in November. It was given by Mary Bryant who, with her husband, cycled for two years around the world. Hence the title of the talk and her book “Four Cheeks to the Wind”.

They commenced their journey in June 2002, starting in Europe, then flying to India and cycling from the tip to the top finally reaching Calcutta. Their journey also included Burma, Japan and Australia.

The slides accompanying the talk were very interesting as they showed real life and not the usual tourist’s trails.

Mary had some wonderful tales to tell.

We had our usual sub-groups this month, including arts and crafts, a ramble to Silchester Common, and coffee morning.

Some of our members attended the federation conference held in Bournemouth, where they enjoyed interesting talks and social evenings with friends from other guilds. We are now looking forward to our carol concert in December.

If you would like to know more about the Townswomen’s Guild, why not come along as a visitor.

You will be made very welcome. We meet every second Tuesday of the month at Sarum Hall, Sarum Hill, Basingstoke from 10am to noon.
