Basingstoke Morning Townswomen’s Guild

10:29am Tuesday 16th March 2010

AT our February meeting, we presented a cheque to Julian Thomas, who accepted it on behalf of the Laurence Moon Beadle Bardle Syndrome research programme which had been our charity for 2009. A vote was then taken for our charity in 2010.

Unfortunately, the speaker who was going to give us a talk was unable to come along due to unforeseen circumstances, so one of our committee kindly stepped in at the last minute.

Jean Hammond gave us a flower arranging demonstration which also included tips for those of us who buy a bunch of flowers which go straight into a vase. Now we should be able to make a couple of arrangements from one bunch of flowers and any foliage from our gardens.

The arts and crafts group met the following Monday, where various crafts were being made, and there was card making, knitting and embroidery and, of course, the usual chat and coffee. Our ramblers walked from Burkham – a walk with a few obstacles but compensated by good views. Lunch followed at The Star in Bentworth. Our coffee morning was again held in Rose’s Bistro in the Sports Centre and, finally, our monthly lunch was at the Red Lion Hotel.

Our guild meets at Sarum Hall, Sarum Hill, on the second Tuesday of each at 10am. Why not come along, first as a visitor, to find our more about us, you will be most welcome.
