Basingstoke Civil Service Retirement Fellowship

ON February 3, Michael Forrest, representing Saga, talked about the range of holidays - from cruises to hotel, touring, special interest and university campus.

Most people know about Saga, which sprang, in 1953, from a brilliant idea of Sydney de Haan for holidays for over-50s and has grown and grown since then. Some may not know about flexible holidays which can be arranged around visits to relatives or about two hotels, one in Malta, the other in Bel Jou St Lucia which are exclusive to Saga travellers. Saga also have a charitable trust set up to help needy children. I can personally vouch for the cruises. The ships are smaller than other cruise liners and have a larger ratio of crew to passengers.

Incidentally, they have just been named as top cruise line by Which? magazine.

We are running a trip to Bournemouth on Thursday, March 25. Please contact Kate on 01256 328791 if you are interested.

Connie Hall, on 01256 781261, is organising a holiday to the Lake District at a hotel near Penrith from June 5 to 12 and another to Ostend from September 19 to 25.

Each holiday has four included excursions. Contact her for more information.

All retired civil servants and their partners are welcome at our meetings held on the first Wednesday of each month, at 10am at Brookvale Village Hall, Lower Brook Street, Basingstoke. Coffee and tea are available.
