AT THE end of November, many of our members had a coach trip to Marlborough where they did some shopping and then enjoyed a Christmas lunch at the Castle and Ball Hotel.
The December meeting was very relaxed with members exchanging cards and greetings also we had our usual lucky dip of presents.
The tables had been decorated by the committee with the appropriate centrepieces and crackers. Mince pies and snacks were also provided to go with our coffee.
This was followed by a return of Jane Cole who once again sang for us.
As usual, her choice of songs varied from Christmas to musicals, and some were songs where we could join in. It was a perfect end for our meetings in 2009.
Our chairman gave a vote of thanks and also wished us all a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year.
Only one sub-group met this month, and that was our stalwart ramblers, who ended their two-mile walk at the Fox and Goose pub at Greywell for a Christmas lunch.
Eight of our members attended Salisbury Cathedral where our National Carol Service was held.
The choir was the Bournemouth and Dorset Federation Choir and the service ended with the Townswomen’s Guild National Anthem “I am a small part of the World” followed by the blessing given by the dean of Salisbury Cathedral.
Our Guild meets at Sarum Hall, Sarum Hill on the second Tuesday of each month at 10am.
Why not come along, first as a visitor, to find out more about us – you will be made very welcome.
