RBL Women’s Section: A great deal of work went into staging the Bargain Basement Sale last Saturday, in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, but the attendance was very disappointing indeed.
Jumble or craft sales and fairs and sponsored events are a traditional way of raising money for both local and national organisations in the village – often the only way other than direct donations.
And, sadly, these are no longer so generous as in days gone by.
FORTHCOMING events: Over the next weeks, I shall be promoting several local events, the proceeds of which directly benefit well-known parochial institutions and causes. They are an integral part of village life without which we would be poorer in more ways than just financially.
On November 24, at 2pm, Father Christmas will make his first visit of the year to the Christmas Bazaar at the RBL Hall, in Crown Lane.
Please do your very best to support him and his willing helpers.
WI JUMBLE Sale: In the village hall on October 27, from 2pm to 4pm. Donations welcome in the morning.
