PROMS concert: On Sunday, the Basingstoke Concert Band performed their popular Proms concert in the garden at the village hall.
The audience was treated to music from stage and screen in the first half and, after enjoying their picnics in the interval, proved they were in fine voice for the Proms flag waving classics in the second half.
BEER Festival: Is on Saturday, at the village hall. Chosen charities are St Michael’s Hospice and Sherfield-on-Loddon Village Hall. More than 30 real ales, plus cider and perry. Food includes a hog roast, chicken and chips, chilli, curry, burgers, ice cream and snacks. Live bands are Whiskey Bottom Road, 45 RPM and Clockwork Fly. Tickets available from sherfieldbeerfestival.org.uk.
CALENDAR Girls by Tim Firth: Was the play chosen for this year’s NWR recent play reading. Based on a true story of 11 WI members, who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund, it is the fastest-selling play in theatre history. Nineteen members packed into Liz’s front room for the reading!
