JUMBLE Sale: Are you sorting lots of stuff to take to the village hall from September 3?

These local sales are a vital way of raising funds for local organisations and without them, our parish precept would probably have to rise substantially.

Saturday 8 is Jumble Day, from 2pm, and buyers are requested to bring their own bags.

GARAGE Sale: This will be held on September 15, at 2 Springfield Place, The Street, from noon to 5pm. Please note the correct address!

VILLAGE Show: The season of mellow fruitfulness is almost upon us and the full bounty of Old Basing will be revealed on September 9, in the village hall at 2.30pm.

Duncan Kerr, inimitable proprietor of The Bolton Arms, will be presenting the awards at 4.30pm. Visit oblvs.org.uk for hints and advice about displaying entries. There are 25 cups and trophies to win as well as class prizes, so everyone has a very good chance.

WATCH out for thieves: Taking lead and other things too! Be vigilant and secure your outbuildings.
