CARNIVAL: Preparations are well in hand for June 16, with several new displays scheduled including a birds of prey demonstra- tion, Morris dancers and, hopefully, the Red Devil parachutists.
The best entry in the procession will receive £100.
THE Crown: The candlelit carol singing on Christmas Eve raised £200, to be shared between St Mary’s Church and St Michael’s Hospice.
CONCERT: The Ungureni Trust presents Generations in concert with Robin Scott at the United Reformed Church, in London Street, Basingstoke, on February 4, at 7.30pm. Those of you who know Dr Judith Darmady will be aware how she has devoted her retirement to raising funds for this orphanage for abandoned Romanian children. Call 01256 850029 for tickets.

ST MARY’S flower arrangers: The annual coffee morning takes place in the Parish Room from 10am to 11.30am. New volunteers are welcome on February 25.
