“SOME hae meat...and canna’ eat”: But that will not be a problem Saturday night, when the clans of the parish meet to celebrate Burns’ Night in the village hall!

Complete with piper and dancing, haggis and hoots, the salute to Scotland’s Bard’s 216th birthday starts at 7.30pm when you hear the skirl of the pipes down The Street.

Tickets are only £15, £10 for children, in aid of church funds, and include a two-course dinner, glass of wine, a wee dram and all the hospitality of the Highlands right on our doorstep.

Ring Margaret Gray on 334177 to book your place, and don’t forget to wear a bit of tartan.

TELL your fortune, cookie?: If the mystery of the Orient is more your style, head on down to the Frog and Wicket on Monday night for a taste of Chinese New Year from 6pm.

Welcome the Year of the Dragon with a themed evening including specials menu and an Eastern twist to the quiz starting at 8pm. For more information, ring 762586 or check out thefrogandwicket.co.uk.
