Ellisfield/Farleigh

10:14am Thursday 2nd September 2010

DARK and wet weather: Threatened to ruin Ellisfield Ladies’ trip to Gilbert White’s House in Selborne to watch an open-air production based on the Jane Austen classic Pride and Prejudice on Sunday.

Thankfully as we parked the cars the sun came out and picnics were enjoyed before the performance.

It has to be said that it was very cold and the audience were glad of warm clothing and even blankets.

The cast meanwhile braved the elements in beautiful period costume, the girls in cotton frocks of the period which hopefully concealed modern thermal underwear!

The company of eight skilfully played the parts of many more transporting the audience back to 19 th century England.

PARISH council: Meets on Monday, at 7.30pm in Ellisfield Memorial Hall.
