VILLAGE open day: Brian Raisborough says: “There will be more than 12 beautiful gardens in the village open to view.
“You can buy a passport ticket and map at the village hall first and this will allow you entry to all the gardens.
“While at the hall, you can enjoy exhibitions and displays by local groups and refreshments. There will be tours around the Loddon School grounds and animal paddock at 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Tickets are £5 per adult – children get in free.”
The event is from 1pm to 5pm. Proceeds to St Leonard’s Church and the village hall.
NWR: Met last week and had a Room 101 evening where call centres, shopping malls and answerphones were ditched.
Credit cards, central heating and computers were among items chosen to keep.
The next meeting is a trip to the Croft Beam Engine and a picnic by the River Kennet on August 1.

To take part in the school, contact Reading FC on 0118 9681480/1460 or by email the club at soccer schools @reading-fc.co.uk.
