Oakley

JUMBLE sale: Please check the notice board at the village hall, in Hill Road, for details of any sale this Saturday.

ONE Stop and the post office are scheduled to re-open tomorrow, after the two-week closure for refurbishment.

HISTORY Project: At the Reflections Day in February quite a number of photos of old Oakley were produced, but the parish council is keen to find more.

If you have any photos of village events, buildings or people dating up to about the mid-1980s, then please let Ros Blackman or Jill Bettridge know (phone numbers in Link). The photos can be scanned to become a permanent record of Oakley and the surrounding area.

TRAFFIC trouble: Parked cars can cause problems where not enough thought has been applied, so could drivers please avoid blocking driveways and generally making life difficult for residents? The Vale and Oakley Lane have been particularly affected but good driving and parking rules apply everywhere.

HOW many?: A recent traffic survey revealed that 9,000 cars used the Pack Lane crossroads in one 12-hour period! A mini-roundabout may eventually be approved, but until that perhaps distant day all of us must treat the crossroads (and other drivers) with new respect.

CONTACT me: There are lots of events in Oakley during the summer, and if you would like to tell every-one in the village about your particular favourite, please let me have the details by Sunday for the following Thursday paper, or a week earlier if you would like your news printed in advance.
