BASINGSTOKE Green Week is now nearly here, with a Green Fair in Festival Place this Saturday, followed by Transport Day, focusing on green transport options, on Sunday, Recycling Day on Tuesday and Energy Day on Wednesday.

Among other events local to our area is a “Swishing Party” at The Tea Bar, in London Road, at 7pm, on September 23 (bring five clothing items to swap) in aid of the Mayor of Basingstoke’s Charity Appeal. Tickets priced at £10.

BCoT Open Day: As well as its open evening, from 4pm to 7.30pm on October 19, BCoT also has an open day from 10.30am to 1pm on November 14.

It’s a great chance to view the college, enquire about courses and also learn about A-level opportunities and the college’s subsidised travel programme.

LOOKING forward: Basingstoke Civil Service Retirement Fellowship’s November 4 meeting is at 10am in Brookvale Village Hall, Lower Brook Street. The talk is by Gordon Massie on “Life and Legends of Mary, Queen of Scots”.
