HERITAGE Open Days: At our church were very well supported and it was good to welcome visitors from far afield as well as locally.
There was also a bell ringing demonstration.
HARVEST supper: On Saturday, September 26, in the village hall. Tickets £5, from 9700469. A hot meal will be served, bring your own cutlery and drinks.
METHODIST Church: Harvest service is on Sunday, September 27, at 10.30am, followed by a barbecue lunch.
THE Singer and the Song: Silchester church will welcome internationally known musician and singer, Robin Scott, on Friday, October 2, at 7.30pm. Tickets £8, from 9700633 and 9700825.
BEER Festival: Another successful event to Silchester Association. Well done all who took part, not forgetting the drinkers enjoying local ales.
ROMAN dig: We say goodbye to the diggers for this shorter season than usual.
An open day was held last Sunday, with a talk from Professor Mike Fulford about what has been found this year.
