VILLAGE Show: Don’t worry if the weather has dampened both your potential entries and your spirits! Entry forms with a £1 late fee per class can be delivered to Judith, at 10 Paddock Fields by 10pm today. So you still have time to bake or bottle before Sunday, when staging takes place between 8am and 10.15am sharp.

Doors open at the village hall at 2.30pm, and a good tea, raffle, tombola and produce auction await you.

METHODIST Church: The congregation will gladly welcome their new minister Reverend Jayne Webb this Sunday, at 10.30am, for her first service in Old Basing. All are invited to attend.

JUMBLE Sale: Saturday, September 12, from 2.00pm, with sorters at 10am and sellers at 1.45pm please. Donations can be left in the village hall outer porch from next Monday until noon on the day, and proceeds go towards hall maintenance funds.

TUDOR Day: At Basing House on September 12, from 11am-4pm, with falconry, archery, music and dancing and even a 100m crawl through the old tunnel for the very brave!
