OLD Basing Village Show: Not long until the great day on September 6 in the village hall. Doors opening at 2.30pm.

If you previously won a trophy, Steve Leyland, at 6 Priory Gardens, requests its return as soon as possible, preferably nicely polished up.

THE Basing convenience stores in Belle Vue Road: Now have a cash point installed, which is currently the only one in the village. They are open from 6am to 8.30pm six days and until 6pm on Sundays. Selling groceries and many useful items they would welcome your custom.

CHARITY luncheon: John and Diana Werry Thomas welcomed villagers to a most enjoyable three-course trout luncheon last Sunday. Despite the dreadful weather, well over £1,000 was raised for St Francis Hospital in Katete, Zambia, which has long been supported through St Mary’s Church.

HAMPSHIRE Open Studios: There is still time to visit Aileen’s Glass Studio (especially for early Christmas presents) at 8 Almond Close, Old Basing, every day up to and including Bank Holiday Monday, from 11am to 5pm.
