CHURCH teas: Continue over the bank holiday weekend from 2pm to 5pm.

FOOTBALL pitch: The pitch is now reseeded and is growing quite well. Thanks go to the parish council, following other good work on the cricket outfield.

SILCHESTER Association: Welcomes villagers to a picnic on the Common on August 31. Bring your own picnic from noon to 4pm. There will be a bar, live music from Frixion of The Hurst Community College. BEER Festival: Tickets now on sale at The Calleva Arms and Jay’s Stores, Pamber Heath for the festival on September 12.

CRICKET: Silchester CC had an emphatic eightwicket win in their last home game against Ropley last Saturday. The star of the show was Ollie Dodd, who followed his 4-30 with the ball with a swashbuckling innings of 89 not out.
