SHERFEST! Candice says: “Our third annual Sherfest was a roaring success. The weather was glorious and the event was very well attended.

“Thanks to the guys at RAF Odiham we had a Chinook land and open to the public, which was a huge attraction.

“We also enjoyed real ale and cider, barbecue and hog roast, excellent live music, inflatables, kids play zone and loads of other attractions. Plans are already under way for 2016!”

NWR: Gill says: “Our recent meeting was about eponyms – people who give their names to a place, item or institution such as Wellingtons. Some examples: Boycott – a refusal to deal with something; Pimms – invented by James Pimms in 1823); Samuel Plimsoll giving his name to the Plimsoll line. Probably the most wellknown of the evening being the ball point pen (the biro) or the vacuum cleaner or ‘Hoover’.”

ST LEONARD’S Church: Open Saturday, from 10am until 4pm. Everyone is welcome to visit for reflection or prayer.
