CARNIVAL: Scarecrows have been popping up in some most unusual places this week prior to the main event, emulating the theme of the procession which is “Countries of the World”.
You can find a little map of their locations in the telephone kiosk on the recreation ground if you also want to take a walk around our attractive village.
There’s fun for all this Saturday, from 2pm, when the carnival princess and her attendants arrive, with many stalls, shooting, archery, the Royal Legion Band, a wild west show, vintage cars, Punch and Judy and lots more to be enjoyed until 5pm.
THE battling butcher: Chris Glaysher, our well-known local meat magician, is off to New Zealand to compete with the British team in the Tri-Nations Butchery challenge this September.
Please support him with his costs in attending this prestigious event by making a donation at his stall at the carnival.
DIARY date: Saturday, July 11, is St Mary’s summer fete, a day of art, music, barbecue and all sorts of everything. Further details to follow.
