BUTTERFLY SUCCESS: Old Down and Beggarwood Wildlife Group has announced that Old Down has been declared top in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight for the small blue butterfly, with the largest count of any site in 2014.
The small blue is our smallest butterfly and a Diversity Action species due to its rarity. The group plans a butterfly walk on Old Down on Saturday June 6. Meet at Old Down Hall at 2pm. It should take one to two hours and it’s hoped the Small Blue will be spotted.
VOTE: The Warren Youth Wing, at the community centre, has been accepted into the Aviva Community Fund vote. If successful they will get up to £1,000 towards their summer activity programme for young people.
