TREE lighting and bazaar: The village tree will be lit at 3pm on Sunday, during the Christmas bazaar outside the Calleva Arms. There will be charity stalls to look around, and carols will be sung after the lights are switched on.

CAROL concert: With The Hurst Singers and Wessex Harpers at the Methodist Church on Sunday, at 4pm. Come along after the bazaar, have a sing and listen to some lovely Christmas music.

SILCHESTER calendars: Are now on sale at only £6 each. Ask any of the bellringers or me.

SAD farewells: Richard and Robina Rand leave Silchester in the next few days, and our hosts Sharon and Simon have now left the Calleva Arms, also after a long stay. Both couples will be sadly missed.
